Mobile Phones

Since they first became commercially available in the late nineteen eighties mobile phones have become an increasingly integral part of our society. Today it is fairly unusually to encounter somebody who does not own a mobile phone, they have become that prevalent.

The technology being implemented by manufacturers of mobile phones is constantly advancing and modern mobile phones often include many features that would not have even been thought of when they were first becoming available. Most modern mobile phones include a camera which can be used to take photographs and send picture messages, have some form of online capability and many also incorporate mp3 player functions. The price of mobile phones has also dropped significantly and a basic handset on a pay as you go pricing scheme can be picked up for as little as ten pounds.

In order to use modern mobile phones they must first be affiliated with a cellular network. People subscribe to these networks and their information is stored in a SIM card which can then be placed into mobile phones in order for them to be used on that appropriate network. SIM cards can be switched between different mobile phones allowing people to keep their telephone number, but use different mobile phones. However, in order to do this the mobile phones must be compatible with that network, or unlocked to work on any network.
